Supreme Inner Alchemy – Basic Practice

explained by

GrandMaster Mantak Chia

« It is the most basic training of the Tao…. my Taoist Master said to me ‘I want the whole world to learn how to open the Cosmic Orbit’.  That was a very big assignment for me and since then I have attempted to do that.  My Master also called this the Taoist ‘born-again’ process because we go back to being like a foetus in the womb when the orbit was open and we were connected to the Primordial Force, the source or the Supreme Creator.  Everything in the Universe is moving in an Orbit and we are connected with this bigger orbit and the whole universe when the orbit is open; if we cannot do the orbit, we cannot connect with it.  I learned this from my Master; he helped me to open my orbit – otherwise it can take many years  - and he entrusted this energy to me and now, after 45 years of practice and teaching, I know how to help people to open their orbit. Often in 1 or 2 days they can really feel the energy flow inside of themselves, rather than it taking much longer.  With their orbit open they can achieve better health, better wisdom, better healing and spiritual energy, because they can connect to the Primordial Force.  It is the beginning of the most basic Supreme Inner Alchemy change… it is the beginning of what we call the ‘water and fire’ practice.  The Tao says we  have water and fire in the body and usually the water flows down from the bottom of the body.. and we lose it.  So the Tao says that you start with the Tan Tien fire and turn the water wheel, make water turn into fire and it changes into Chi and that is the beginning of the Supreme Inner Alchemy changes.  If there were no more water and fire in the world, it would end.  It is about the balancing of water and fire. The Inner Smile Meditation also makes Inner Alchemy changes.  These Tao practices mean that your body is the temple of the soul and the spirit.  Jesus said “your body is the temple of God”, Buddha said the same thing.  Neither Jesus,  Budddha, nor Mohammed ever built a temple; they just developed their own temple.   The basic thing you must know is about your organs; where they are located, and the negative and positive emotions stored in them.  e.g. the liver stores anger, but also kindness, generosity and loving energy.. the Tao says that if you know where your organ is.. the liver is here on the right side of the body,  you picture it, you smile to it you and when you are angry you smile to it and send it love, kindness and rub around the liver until you start to feel that the anger is changing into kindness and generosity and that is the most simple but powerful alchemy that we can do every day.    Transform hate into love in our hearts.

The next thing we learn in this self-help healing practice is the 6 Healing Sounds, which is a way of cleansing the negative emotions stored in our organs.  Now Western researchers see that the organs are like hard disks, recording our negative experiences and emotions.  Taoists discovered the same many thousands of years ago.  Negative emotions are part of us, we see emotions as negative and positive energy.  Supreme Inner Alchemy practices transform negative into positive.  We can continue these changes to a higher level.  The Tao does not see negative emotions as sinful or caused by the devil, but tries to establish a ‘ph’ balance between them.  Acid is negative, positive is alkaline, and we are looking for a ph balance between them.  However if negative emotions are too extreme then this is harmful…. Too acid !  So every day we look for a balance and stop extremes.  Do not fight the negative but balance it.. this is what the Healing Sounds can achieve.  Experiences which bother us, drain us, can be deleted by this tool.  Some emotions can be recycled like compost and transformed into positive energy.  Anything that we cannot recycle ourselves, we can send to Mother Earth who can transform this energy and give it us back as healing power, wealth and wisdom.  It is a must for everybody who understands the importance of Supreme Inner Alchemy as we deal with this daily, with every breath that we take. »  Mantak Chia

*** The Inner Smile is a powerful internal healing and relaxation meditation. Deep relaxation dissolves physical and mental tensions that can cause energy blockages and unhealthy Chi. The Inner Smile enhances the energy of the organs and glands, our life force in general, and stills and focuses the heart and mind. It makes us more aware of our body and inner being, because we learn to communicate with our organs, glands, spine and other specific parts of our body, as well as our soul. Taoists discovered that consciousness is rooted not only in the brain, but also in the vital organs and in a more subtle sense, in each of the cells. Smiling to the organs and thanking them for the work they do will reawaken the intelligence of the body. We are often so out of touch with the body and emotions that we do not notice inner disharmony.

*** The Six Healing Sounds and related postures help to restore, balance, and cleanse the vital organs. They also stimulate the Chi flow throughout the body to enhance one’s overall health and vitality. These Cosmic Six Healing Sounds and their postures help to release any excess heat that may be trapped in the cooling sacs which surround each organ. During this class, Master Chia will show you how to assume the postures and produce the sounds sub-vocally; their vibrations redistribute any excess heat into cooler regions of the body where it can safely be stored or used.  Once the organ energies are balanced, you have a good foundation for establishing and nurturing the virtue energies. This will help to maintain the Chi balance throughout the system. Practice of the Cosmic Six Healing Sounds will restore and maintain your calmness and good health. Greater sexual pleasure and improved digestion will occur. Minor ailments, such as colds, flu, and sore throats, can be prevented or thrown off easily. Several psychologists have taught some of their patients to use the Cosmic Six Healing Sounds to relieve depression, anxiety or anger; and body work oriented healers have used the Six Healing Sounds to help speed up healing, and the healer spends less life force energy.

***The Microcosmic Orbit. Learn the preparations correctly: Chi Kung Warm-ups; Sitting properly and keeping the spine supple and loose; Inner Smiling; Warming the Stove; Activating Sexual Energy; Gathering Tan Tien Chi. Learn and use the recommended techniques for enhancing the sensation of Chi: Mind eye Power; hands-on touching of Vital Chi Centers; the natural Breathing Method. Use them in combination to draw ever more Chi into the Microcosmic Orbit. Use the hands to focus your awareness and to move the Chi. Utilize the slow, deep breath to expand and open the centers. These teachniques will support the conscious opening of your Microcosmic Orbit.  During the seminar Master Chia will help participants to open their own orbit.

***Supreme Inner Sexual alchemy – Healing Love for Couples

« The whole Tao practice is called the Inner Alchemy practice and the Supreme Inner Sexual Alchemy is the whole Taoist system of how to change the ‘material’ into the ‘immaterial’.  In the normal sexual way, men lose a lot of energy through ejaculation and women through loss of blood, during menstruation.  So the Supreme Inner Sexual Alchemy teaches you how to prevent this loss of energy, and how to transform  a material thing into something ‘immaterial’, i.e.the sexual organ into sexual energy and then to bring this sexual energy up higher.  In the Tao, sexual energy is seen as a very high form of energy.

Usually people just lose a lot of this energy through ejaculation and menstruation.  But sexual energy is a creating power, it creates us, and it has the most healing power.  Doctors have discovered that if there is no sexual energy reaching the brain, the brain shrinks, gets old and dies.  So first we want to take the sexual energy up to revitalise the brain and make it healthier, stronger, bigger, to increase our knowledge and alertness.  This is the major key to longevity.  Thousands of years ago the Tao, and other systems, discovered that orgasm, compassion and loving energy have a lot of healing power when combined.  So when we have arousal, orgasm and loving compassion fire combined together we can use them to heal, create, connect to the higher spiritual practices and connect to the source.  So it is a technique which cultivates orgasmic energy: men can train to not lose their energy through ejaculation and women can train to shorten their bleeding during menstruation.  Men learn a very powerful technique to control ejaculation thus conserving their energy and cultivating greater orgasms, becoming multi-orgasmic and women learn how to transform the blood into chi.  In the latter part of Tao techniques there are descriptions of how to produce ‘ambrosia’ in women – female ejaculation.  Because the lady is water, if their glands do not produce enough water their sexual glands dry up until they cannot produce any more sexual hormones.  Scientists have discovered that a major cause of Alzeihmer’s disease is a lack of sexual hormone in the brain.  The last part of the practice teaches how partners can exchange energy which will then increase their orgasms, permitting multi-orgasms for the man and multi-ejaculations for the woman.  In olden times there were important secret initiation ceremonies for these practices.  It was known as a process which deleted the name from the book of death and re-wrote the name in the book of life. »   Mantak Chia

***Iron Shirt 1 «  This was a Martial Arts practice in olden times; it developed the chi which was then packed into the organs and chest in order to protect the body.  Now we use it to strengthen the organs, which then helps you to be healthier and live longer. »  Mantak Chia

Iron Shirt Chi Kung is part of the Universal Tao System's basic practices. The Iron Shirt techniques are learned and then the improved body (healthy Chi posture and healthy Chi breath) utilises the results of the Inner Smile and Six Healing Sounds. This powerful Inner Structure is the ideal environment for the healing elements of the Microcosmic Orbit. Many students claim that Iron Shirt Chi Kung postures, movements and breathing have helped alleviate or directly cure pre-existing maladies and complaints. Here are some of the detailed fundamentals that you'll discover during this seminar:  Rooting , Centering, Inner Structure, Packing Breathing, and Chi Belt.

*** Bone Marrow Nei Kung  « Now we know that bone marrow produces red blood cells, stem cells and the white blood cells defense system.  In olden times they had discovered that practising this chi kung made them healthier and stronger and rarely ill, but it was a very secret practice!   It involves bringing up sexual energy – which is the creating power – and wrapping it around the bones, and packing it into the bones and into the bone marrow to transform it and thus produce more bone marrow in the body.  It is a very high Supreme Inner Alchemy transformation practice. »  Mantak Chia

Bone Marrow Nei Kung is a system of health developed by the ancient Taoist Masters for the cultivation of internal power. They discovered that, through the process of absorbing energy into the bones, bone marrow can be revitalized to replenish the blood and nourish the life-force within. Many healers have sought these methods, which are known to make the body impervious to illness and disease. In ancient times, the "Steel Body" attained through this practice was a coveted asset in the fields of Chinese medicine and martial arts. Today the copious health benefits of this art are sought after by health enthusiasts from all walks of life. The Taoist methods of "regrowing" the bone marrow are crucial to the rejuvenation of the body, which in turn rejuvenates the mind and the spirit. These secrets had never before been revealed, but now their disclosure is necessary to instill the sensibilities of the masters into an energy-deficient society. During the seminar, Master Mantak Chia divulges the step-by-step practices of his predecessors in a useful and informative way, for the health and spiritual well-being of today's world.  Also known as Iron Shirt 3.

***Fusion 1 « is an advanced Inner Alchemy practice.   In Supreme Inner Alchemy this is called Advanced Fusion of the Energy.  We take all the negative emotions and fuse them together, put in all the positive émotions, fuse them together and then we try to find an energy balance.  We have 5 elements inside our body, 5 negative and positive emotions, 5 elements outside our body, 5 elements in the Universe and we learn to feel them one by one.  This is the most powerful tool to balance the emotions and delete the negative. »     Mantak Chia

Fusion of the Five Elements 1 is the first level of meditation in a Taoist practice also known as Fusion of the Five Elements in the Universe. It is the beginning of Inner Alchemy, a scientific process by which you gain control over the energies of your inner universe so that a connection can be made to the tremendous energy of the universe beyond the body.

The Fusion of the 5 Elements Meditation is the next step on the path of Taoist meditation. A traditional Taoist internal alchemy practice, you will learn to take your transformation of negative emotions to the next level to nourish your higher spirit.

Learn to

  • Go deeper into the negative emotional energies in your organs
  • Understand your internal weather patterns
  • Link your sense organs with their “mother” organs
  • Neutralize the negative emotions
  • Crystalize your emotional energy into a “pearl”
  • Circulate this energy and attract more healing energy from high frequency sources

This is an essential practice for emotional balance in these challenging times.
Prerequisite: Awaken the Healing Light or equivalent

***Fusion of the 5 Elements II & III
We step it up in Fusion 2 & 3 and begin intensive cultivation of our natural virtues – the Te (or De) spoken of in the Tao Te Ching. With the compassion that we develop, we can open up deeper channels in the body and prepare ourselves energetically for further spiritual and alchemical practices  like the Darkroom Experience.  These meditation practices can strengthen us on all levels.
You will learn to

  • Create the Pearl of Compassion
  • Open the remaining Extraordinary Vessels that irrigate and regulate the body’s energy (Thrusting, Belt, and Bridge and Regulator Channels)
  • Create powerful psychic self-protection methods
  • Prevent burnout
  • Protect the nervous system, spine, & brain
  • Safeguard your auric field.

The body is now extremely open to chi circulation with the energetic infrastructure in place for further energy work.  Prerequisite:  Fusion I.

***Tao Yin « is actually a Chinese version of Yoga, but in China it is connected to the Martial Arts and Tai Chi so there is emphasis on the Psoas muscle and lumbar strength, which we call the core of life.  Tan Tien Chi Kung is very similar in as much as the abdomen is the axis of life.  There is so much power in the tan tien, hip and groin area, so we pack chi here to protect and strengthen the body.  Tan Tien Chi Kung  is also known as  ‘second brain chi kung’, if you can strengthen this area of the body then your ‘first brain’ in your head, will be stronger too. » Mantak Chia

Tao Yin exercises will help to revitalize the practitioner's system and bring the benefits of improved health, which can, in turn, lead to longer life. Starting with Full Body Breathing exercises, the practice of Tao Yin continues with a series of exercises which activate the different meridians in the body governing the various organs - the bladder, spleen, liver, kidneys and stomach. The importance of the Psoas Muscle and the various vertebrae groups of the spine are emphasized and a series of exercises which help to strengthen these areas.

***Wisdom Chi Kung   « The brain calls for so much energy in order to function properly.  The organs can store energy and release this energy into the brain.  When we cultivate organ energy, that power can be passed onto the brain when necessary.  When the organs are weak, the brain lacks energy.  Organs are responsible for different types of wisdom, knowledge and management skills.  When practicing this chi kung you learn which organs are responsible for what sorts of wisdom and performance in the brain. » Mantak Chia

Lower the mind, fill the Tan Tien with Chi. This practice teaches the art of meditation and physical rejuvenation. Opening the brain to be filled with the knowledge of the Universe, by increasing our own mental capacity. Wisdom Chi Kung is a simple and highly effective method which prepares the mind for higher levels of Universal Tao knowledge. It is a New Approach to Healing In combination with Universal Tao healing systems such as the Inner Smile, Laughing Chi Kung and Chi Nei Tsang, Wisdom Chi Kung prepares the practitioner for increased understanding of how to heal the body with an empty mind. Techniques taught in this workshop help increase Mental Alertness, improve Memory and Clarity and to promote the ability to maintain this for a lifetime of Meditation that will connect with the Universe.  Unlike other meditations, Wisdom Chi Kung  teaches to connect with the universal energies, expand our awareness out, but charge the body with this energy, not to loose sight of the physical realm. It is essential to maintain a healthy connection with our bodies, and Wisdom Chi Kung is one way of doing this.

***Chi Nei Tsang 1.  The abdominal internal organ massage. Master Mantak Chia continues to bring the ancient, time-tested wisdom of the Universal Tao System to the Western world. Chi Nei Tsang I presents a whole new understanding and approach to healing with detailed explanations of self-healing techniques and ways to avoid absorbing negative and sick enegies from others. Chi Nei Tsang I is full of new ideas and ancient healing techniques gathered from thousands of years of experience. The art evolved in an era when there were few physicians and people had to know how to heal themselves. For many today the situation remains the same. Chi Nei Tsang I teaches people how to take full charge of their health and well-being. In the Navel Center negative emotions, stress, tension and sickness accumulate and congest. When this occurs, all vital functions stagnate. Using Chi Nei Tsang I techniques in and around the area of the navel provides the fastest method of healing with the most permanent results. Many techniques of other systems only work at the body's extremities, far from the Navel Center and the organs.

Special 3-day Abdomen and Enlightenment workshop.

Taoists see the abdomen as the core of the body. The stomach is an emotional centre referred to as ‘the second brain’ and the Tan Tien – just behind the navel – is an energy vortex, a chakra.

That feeling in our gut is not imaginary; this part of the body contains a large quantity of neurotransmitters, making it a key source of body intelligence.

Our Chi – energy – is depleted when we are angry or stressed and our ‘second brain’ get can get out of synch leaving us feeling out of sorts.  Taoists believe that both negative and positive emotions are stored in the vital organs, accessible through the abdomen, and that we also ‘think’ with our stomach.  The negative emotions of worry, anxiety, sadness, stress and impatience have most impact on our digestive system, and we feel it in the abdomen.

(Read more about Chi Nei Tsang, a Taoist holistic massage that treats the whole body – physical and emotional - through working mainly on the abdomen).

***Tan Tien Chi Kung practices of breathing and movements will help re-dress balance by improving chi pressure, and bringing internal strength back to the body.  These traditional exercises are inspired by animals, which are in touch with their bodies’ instincts and wisdom.

Tan tien chi kung teaches us how to cultivate and condense chi in our lower abdomen, empowering the chi stored in the body to increase vitality, strengthen organs, and stimulate self-healing.

It is our mind that directs and guides our chi, but if the mind and body are out of balance or under stress, the mind cannot do this correctly. Re-balancing the tan tien is very important to restore the mind-body balance that is essential for spiritual growth and optimal well-being.  We can increase the Chi pressure in the organs and body cavities, and stimulate the blood circulation, lymphatic, endocrine and nervous systems.  Chi and blood will flow more easily and the tan tien’s internal power will help us root our body to the earth, thus providing a safe and effective method for receiving earth energies.  This grounding or rooting, promotes our physical, mental and spiritual balance

These chi kung practices will help reduce the size of our stomachs, firm up abdominal muscles and improve breathing, all an important part of letting our body recover, re-boot and re-set our second brain.

Be aware that this could result in a slimmer waistline!

Master Chia will be combining the practices of Tan Tien Chi Kung with Wisdom Chi Kung in this special 3-day workshop.

As we lower the mind and fill the Tan Tien with Chi, Wisdom Chi Kung teaches us to connect with the universal energies, expanding our awareness out, and filling the body with energy, whilst not losing sight of the physical realm. It is essential to maintain a healthy connection with our bodies, Wisdom Chi Kung does this, by opening the brain to be filled with the knowledge of the Universe, and increasing our own mental capacity.

This practice teaches the art of meditation and physical rejuvenation.  ***Wisdom Chi Kung is a simple and highly effective method which prepares the mind for higher levels of Universal Tao knowledge.

In a new approach to healing, in combination with Universal Tao healing practices such as the Inner Smile, Laughing Chi Kung and Chi Nei Tsang, Wisdom Chi Kung prepares the practitioner for increased understanding of how to heal the body with an empty mind. It involves techniques for increasing mental alertness, memory, clarity and the ability to maintain this for a lifetime’s meditation connected to the Universe
